Hailed by Fortune magazine as “the New Queen of the Electric Car Biz,” Padmasree Warrior was appointed U.S. CEO and Chief Development Officer for the global startup NextEV in late 2015.  

Educated as a chemical engineer at the Indian Institute of Technology and Cornell University, she was looking toward earning her doctorate but took a job at a Motorola semiconductor plant for what she thought would be a year.

It turned into a 23-year rise through the ranks all the way to being named the company’s Chief Technology Officer in 2003.  While she was CTO Motorola earned the 2004 National Medal of Technology awarded by the President of the United States.

In 2008 she joined CICSO Information Systems as their Chief Technology Officer adding the titles Senior Vice President of Engineering and GM Enterprise Segment in 2010.  Two years later she was promoted to Chief Technology and Strategy Officer.

Making the decision to leave CISCO in 2015, Warrior wanted to find a new challenge instead of moving to a similar role at a similar company. Her search for something different led her to NextEV an electric vehicle company based in Shanghai, China.  As the CDO and U.S. CEO for the young startup she is helping to build something new and being part of NextEV allows her an opportunity to work with new technologies that can have a positive global impact. In three years, she took the company, now known as NIO, from start-up to a successful IPO.

She was a member of the boards of directors of GAP and Microsoft and part of the Thorn Technology Task Force, a group of more than 20 technology companies that lend their knowledge, time, and resources to fight the sexual exploitation of children, a cause Warrior is passionate about. 

In late 2019 she founded Fable, a start-up where she fills the roles of President and CEO. The company’s first offering was a subscription-based book recommendation engine and private social network where creators can self-publish.

Recognized many times for her contributions to technology she was inducted into the Women in Information Technology International Hall of Fame in 2007 and has been included as one of Forbes Magazine’s 100 Powerful Women multiple times.
