Dr. Rosalyn Sussman Yalow was able to use the radioimmunoassay methods she and a colleague developed to prove that type 2 diabetes is caused by the body’s inefficient use of insulin not a lack of insulin like had been previously thought.

Sylvia Fedoruk

The first woman member of the Atomic Energy Control Board of Canada, Sylvia Fedoruk also worked as a professor of oncology and associate member in physics at the University of Saskatchewan before being appointed chancellor of the school in 1986.
